The number two road on this "most dangerous" list is a road I and many other cyclists take frequently. There were a grand total of 2 deaths on this most dangerous road in a decade. We live in a culture of fear in the UK where the merest mention of cycling prompts cries of 'wear a helmet' while our population is approaching an obesity epedemic. Trying to deal with safety on this level rarely has benefit (except for perhaps a few high incident points where there is bad road design) - we badly need to get more people cycling to get the 'safety in numbers' effect - especially after the tragic death of Natasha Richardson, the cries for helmet use are louder than ever.
