Bullet 4 is the big one. As a cyclist I used to signal to motorists that I thought it was safe to pass. The problem was, my waving my arm seemed to have an amazing ability to conjure oncoming traffic. Now I only signal to slow down if I see traffic I don't think overtaking traffic can. Doesn't seem to matter sometimes, this morning I was cresting a hill with a motorist about 200 yards behind me and oncoming traffic about 400 yards to my front. I signal to the overtaker to slow down and he took that as a signal to speed up. He (she?) nearly managed to create a head-on crash with a combined speed well in excess of 100 MPH.
