Incidents of Travel
I’ve been down Yucatán way, mounting comparative explorations between the geometry of Mayan temples and the topes in las carreterras — well, not really, but it makes a good story for my accountant.
Much to catch up on after my internet-cation, but in the meantime my latest Slate column, on my adventures with an in-car feedback system, ran recently.

Good and relevant (Slate) article.
In-vehicle data recorders have the potential to ‘control’ and mould driving behavior, for the better. There’s a study just getting underway at UMTRI to examine the effects of feedback, and types of feedback on teens’ & parents’ driving.
Lots of policy implications… and privacy implications as well. (monitoring via a window on your desktop
