I love it when they put speed limits in structures such as parking garages. Is speeding a major problem in these structures?
A vehicle I owned didn’t register anything below 5km/h.

Speeding is a problem in the parking garage where I work. It’s small and tight, but people fly through the straight areas going 18+ mph (we had a speed gun and clocked people before).
My speedo will register at 1mph, but the slowest I can go with the clutch out and no gas pedal is 4mph.

Glad to be of service. Wasn’t there a prize for “the lowest bidder”, Tom?
Just kidding.

@Vincent:
Speeding is a problem in the parking garages at my school. People not only fly through the straight areas, but also around corners.
My first day of school there, I tried to park in a garage… and never tried that again. Within a month, I gave up on driving and was biking to school. Parking areas on campus are probably the most dangerous place I have ever frequented.

I think I could push my car that faster than the speed limit!

Anytime you have an area where the same people drive the same route every day, you’ll have a speeding problem. Familiarity breeds contempt, which results in higher speeds as people get use to the turns and such, even in a parking garage. Then something unexpected happens when they’re exceeding the safe driving speed, and someone gets hurt.

Does that apply to everyone in the car park, regardless of their mode of transport? Joggers beware
June 3rd, 2010 at 11:12 am
I would bet that if someone was walking at or above the limit speed he would probably get the horn or the “Idiots One Finger Salute” from a driver.

Interesting point. ‘Safe’ heavy vehicle speeds like this are off the scale whereas if you’re doing double the legal speed limit you can see how fast you’re driving.
