The @wsdot tweeters are mostly based out of my town (at one point their boss lived about 2 blocks away); I honestly think they have one of the best organizational accounts out there. Friendly, helpful & informative, and the main account is actually mostly about projects and really major stuff, not so much alerts.

There’s also a local agency that has an account specifically for a big road project, they tweet mostly first thing in the morning to share exactly what’s planned for the day, which is quite useful in deciding whether to take the long way around!

The other note about tweeting & driving: it’s not necessarily the driver doing the tweeting. As someone who’s usually the passenger when on I5, it’s a bit like being the map-reader, keeping up with alerts & whatnot.

Tweeting while behind the wheel? Egad, just as deadly as texting behind the wheel! Put the friggin’ device down and drive so you don’t kill someone. If you can’t do that, walk or take public transportation.
